FOR FAMILIES

SERVICE AT: 3:00 PM

Students, families, and friends are invited to attend. No tickets are required, there is no assigned seating and no guest limit.

FOR SENIORS

ARRIVE BY: 2:15 PM

Seniors assemble in the gym of the church. Please wear your graduation robe over appropriate dress clothes–no jeans, flip flops, hats or sunglasses.

A guest speaker, typically a teacher or a coach, begins the ceremony and is followed by several members of the senior class.  A choral ensemble sings and a small orchestra may provide music.

A rose-cutting ceremony is part of this service and has become a baccalaureate tradition at Lovejoy High School. Each senior attending the event is given a rose tied to a continuous piece of ribbon, which symbolizes the unity of the Senior Class.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, each student releases the ribbon, symbolizing the pursuit of his or her own personal dreams.
